I love, love, love Brandon’s Stanton’s project “Humans of New York.”
If you haven’t heard of it already, go to his website right now. And I mean right now. It really is amazing. Then come back here and read the rest of this post.
Brandon has published three books. The two pictured above, and a children’s picture book that I think is called “Little Humans.” (I brought a copy of that too, but I gave it to my niece and nephew.) His project started when he lost his job and decided to travel around the US taking pictures. It was his own little (or rather big) photography retreat and education. He has been working on this project for several years, and it has transformed along they way.
In the project’s current state, Brandon explores New York (and a few others places) meeting people, taking pictures of them, and sharing their stories with the world. His posts are no longer just cool photographs. They are beautiful, sad, and most importantly, inspiring accounts of the lives of regular people.
People like you and me. People who have a story to tell.
Thank you, Brandon Stanton, for taking the time to give people a voice. You are making a difference. And you are sharing important truths with the world.
